It seems appropriate to share this stirring quote with you as I invite you to join me in an endeavor that will turn this inspiring thought into a reality for our next generation of leaders. I am certain that you share my belief that a media that identifies with all of society is our best hope to record the events of our world in a fair and honest way. And now I’m inviting you to join me in partnering with others who want to be a part of a solution to the disparities in a racially unbalanced core sector of our society by making a commitment to Texas Southern University’s Tavis Smiley School of Communications and Tavis Smiley Center for Professional Media Studies to support our next generation of media professionals.The primary mission of the Tavis Smiley School of Communications and Media Center is to prepare students with a major or minor in the field of communications for entry into the workplace. A secondary mission is to ensure that all students matriculating through Texas Southern University have an understanding of the impact of communication skills upon all aspects of society.
